Authors note- This is my first fan fiction. In fact, its the first story
I have ever written so go easy on me. My brother, Michael Coll, is busy
writing one also but his is nothing like mine. You might think the
events are too unbelievable but I wanted to do something that hasn't
been done and explore a character that hardly does anything. Curious?
Read on


In Robotropolis, Robotnik was sitting on his chair, watching the
monitors. One of which showed a swatbot factory, or at least what was
left of it. "That miserable rodent" thought Robotnik. Snively was also
there, Woking hard to please his uncle. "Sir.. the scan is complete no
sign of the hedgehog or any of his friends... it looks like they have
already left" said Snively. "BLAST" Shouted Robotnik. "keep searching
and post extra guards on the remaining factories or I might just take my
anger out on YOU!" Robotnik has been through this so many times. It was
unlikely he would find Sonic today he would have to wait until the next
time, and the next and the next..."That hedgehog has always eluded me, I
must find his weakness" thought Robotnik.

Meanwhile, in Knothole, Sonic, Sally and other freedom Fighters were
celebrating their successful mission. "Way past cool sally" sonic said
happily. "Oh well, we did destroy the factory but I don't know if it
made any difference" 
Bunny heard this. "Sure it did sugar, I mean I am sure we at least
annoyed Robotnik and if we keep on going we can make everything back to
normal. Sally sighed. She knew they was right. But one factory wasn't
going to give Robotnik a really bad day, or so she thought..... 

ROBOTROPOLIS

Robotnik was deep in thought. He has managed almost complete world
domination and yet a group of "children" still pester him. He was
considering destroying the entire great forest but he believed that it
would not make "sure" the hedgehog would be dead and besides, he wanted
to personally destroy Sonic. "I must find the location of Knothole"
thought Robotnik He had sent many bots to explore the Great Forest but
to no avail. He thought back to his experiences with Ari and the robotic
Sally. "What I need is a spy, someone who wont betray me and will be
accepted into knothole" He thought a little more then stopped. "AH HA HA
HA HA HA HA I have it! But WHO should be the victim???
Just then Snively came in. "Sir I have the status report on the factory.
It will be operational in a few hou...." Snively stopped. Robotnik was
starring at him and grinning. This was bad news thought Snively. 
"ahh Snively" said Robotnik "Please Follow me"
"um *gulp*"

A few moments later in Robotropolis:

 That last thing Snively remembered was being dragged into a room full
of machinery. He recognised the one in the center. "THE
ROBOTISICER!!!!!!!" Screamed Snively. As the tube slid down and the
strange hum began, he could see Robotnik watching him intently. Then he
blacked out.
Snively woke up expecting to be roboticized. He was surprised he could
still feel! What ever happened, he didn't feel roboticized although he
did feel strange. He still had his emotions except for a big headache.
He was still in the "robotisizer"
"Ahh Snively, how do you feel?" Robotnik asked as he entered
"What happened?" Snively asked strugleing against his headache. He
noticed that his voice was also different
"Let me tell you. I needed to find the location of Knothole right?"
"Umm right"
"Now how do you think I can do this. We can't just wander in and find it
accidentally or bribe any of Sonic's friends as they always betray me.
Destroying the forest is not easy. Although we have used spies that have
found knothole, they betray me awell. That's where you come in. You see
you are the best person for this job. Robotnik said
In front of Snively was his reflection. He didn't see himself, but a
short, orange furred fox. 
 He looked at himself to verify the reflection. He had fur everywhere!
He knew he was definitely a fox complete with the tail which he moved to
make sure it belonged to him. 
"Why did you do this to me?" asked Snively even more terrified
"This wonderful machine, has reorganised your genetic structure. I based
it on the roboticizer. I have had some problems with it but I got it
working..... for now."
 I have changed you to a form that will hopefully be more acceptable to
knothole. Then they will trust you and take you to there. You can tell
me where the village is, come back, go into the machine, and we change
you back. Simple, isn't it? of course, you will have to cope with the
body of a lesser life form until then" Robotnik snickered as he
summarised his plan
Snively felt sick. How could this happen to him of all people? "Couldn't
you have used a robot"
"Of course not. For one thing, their computer might be able to detect
our deception since our experiences with the robotic Sally. Also, You
can adapt better to your surrounds. They can not detect you as Snively
the simian, but  they will believe you had been born as a vulpine. Now
you are to run from here to the forest. Someone will spot you
eventually. Once you have found knothole come back to me. Say you
special code to any swatbot so that it will bring you to me. 
"Cant you just give me a transmitter" Asked Snively
"Too risky. What if they catch you with it"?
"OK I see your point" Said Snively feeling defeated. This was the worst
thing Robotnik had done to him. Snively knew he had no choice. If he
failed, Robotnik wouldn't change him back. Would he be this cruel to the
only family he has?

Snively was led out. "Oh yes, be careful with the swatbots, They are
still programmed to capture Freedom Fighters" Robotnik added laughing.
Snively ran. His new body was a much faster runner then his older one.
As he ran, he felt strange. For the first in a long time that the place
smelt terrible. He could smell all the pollution for miles around. He
had grown accustomed to the smells of Robotropolis a long time ago. But
now it was all different. 
He ran into the Great Forest. The smells here were much more pleasant.
After a while, he began to walk. He walked for a long time.  New
instincts were surfacing and pulled him to a direction. He didn't know
where he was going but hoped someone would find him soon. The green
trees and blue sky made him feel at peace.

LOOKOUT TOWER

Look out was a boring job for Tails. It's the only mission he did.
"Nobody ever comes here" thought Tails. "I am always here because they
all think I am too young" Just then, tails spotted another fox walking
down the path. Tails didn't know who it was. "I'd better tell sonic"
Thought Tails as he twisted his tails and flew to knothole.

KNOTHOLE

Sonic and sally were in the war room preparing another raid into
Robotropolis. When Tails came in.
"Sonic, there's someone coming this way" He said
"What, do you know who?"
"No I don't know him" said tails
"What did he look like" asked Sally
"He's a fox. About the same size as Sonic
"Where did you see him?" asked sonic
"He was heading East from the lookout tower."
"OK me and Sally will handle this"
Sonic and sally raced to the place Tails directed them to. It wasn't
long before they found the Fox

Snively completely forgot his mission. He was seeing the forest in a way
only a fox could although He still had his humanity locked in his mind.
He suddenly felt someone else behind him. He turned around instinctively
and saw Sonic and Sally. His memories returned and he couldn't help
feeling sad for what he must do.
"Hello. Who are you?" asked Sonic. Snively felt relieved that they can't
recognise him. "Umm my name is S..er Simon" he replied in a different
voice
"Well Simon, what are you doing here?
"I escaped from Robotnik's prison and wandered here. Umm Who are you?"
Snively could tell that they didn't trust him. He had to make it look as
if  he didn't know them.
After a brief introduction they continued to ask the new fox questions.
"How did you escape?" asked Sally already sceptical
"Well it was hard but I had a weapon and blasted my way out" Snively
said. He was beginning to sweat but Luckily they couldn't see it through
his fur. 
"Where is this weapon" asked sally
"I lost it back in Robotropolis" Replied Snively
"Uhh sal can we talk privately" Asked sonic as he walked away from Simon
"I don't trust this guy" said Sonic
"I agree this time sonic. Its obvious that he is hiding something. But I
cant help but feel if we know him" said Sally They walked back to the
fox
"Where are you going to go now" asked Sally
"I haven't decided, I have nowhere to go." said Snively
"What should we do Sal?" asked Sonic.
Sally turned to the fox "If you like we can take you to our village,
BLINDFOLDED and we will have to watch over you while you are there.
Understand?" Asked Sally.
"y-y-yes, Thank you" said Snively

KNOTHOLE

In Knothole Snively was led blindfolded. They went through so many turns
that they may have been going back to Robotropolis and wouldn't know
it.. "We're here" Said Sonic as he took of the blind fold. Snively
looked at the village in general as he was led to a hut.
He knew some of Sonic's friends. He didn't want to get to know anybody
as it would be easier for him to betray them. "You can sleep in the
"guest" hut. A guard will be watching you so don't try anything" said
Sally
"Fine" Replied Snively as he entered the hut.

The hut was fairly plain. It had a mirror, a bed and some draws. As he
looked at the mirror, he couldn't help but laugh at the fact that he has
hair again, although a bit more than he expected. He lay in bed trying
to think of his next move. He felt a bit sorry for everyone. Robotnik
obviously changed his mind as well as his appearance. He was very tired,
so he decided to sleep on it.

Snively couldn't sleep well. He had dreams with painful images. He saw 2
people. One human and one Fox fighting for domination over his mind. He
felt himself being drawn to and from his two personalities. Suddenly he
woke up back in the hut with a cold sweat. He couldn't take it anymore.
He decided not to do anything for the time being until he has made up
his mind.

NEXT MORNING

The next morning, Snively felt much better. He got out of bed and out
the door. Immediately, his "guide" Followed him. Everyone was awake. The
village didn't seem tense so he figured no raids were being planned at
the moment. Tails saw him and went to him.

"Hi, I am Tails" Tails said
"ugg Hi I am Simon"
"What are you doing?"
"Just having a walk" Snively felt strange. He felt a kin-ship with the
fox. This was going to make his decision even harder.
"Ummm What do you people do here?" asked Snively
"Well when were not planning something, not a lot" replied Tails
"So what now?"
"You can have breakfast with us" suggested Tails
"OK" said Snively remembering he was hungry

In Sally's hut rotor came in. "Sally, Robotnik is up to something. I got
a message from Chuck. Look"  Rotor said as he passed a note.
"Hmmm, According to uncle Chuck, Robotropolis had a huge power surge
last night. He believes it was due to some new machine or weapon" said
Sally after reading the note.
"We will have to be more careful during our raids until we figure this
out" said Rotor
"Yeah. Where is our new guest?"
"I think I saw him having breakfast with everyone else" said Rotor
"What do you think about him?"
"I don't know, he seems Okay, but I cant help but think I already know
him"
"You too?" Asked Sally, a bit relived that someone else felt the same.
"NICOLE, Search database for someone called Simon, species- Fox, age
-15-20" She said
"Searching Sally...........3 records Found, all of which have been
verified as roboticized" Said NICOLE.
"He could be a spy from Robotnik, he wouldn't give us his real name if
that were true" said Rotor.
"Maybe, NICOLE, Continuously monitor Simon and tell me of any strange
behaviour." "Very well Sally.... Now Scanning" Replied NICOLE.

Snively didn't know what to do. Here, he had friends, another chance but
he missed being human. Robotnik's plan was perfect. He knew that Snively
wouldn't betray him not because he trusts him, but because of his need
to be human. Tails noticed his new friend looked troubled so tried to
cheer him up.

"Are you okay Simon?" asked Tails
"Yeah I am just have a few problems I need to sort out" he said
"Ya need to talk about it?"
"No, you don't want to know and if you knew you wouldn't want to be
friends with me." he said
Tails was confused. What could be so bad he thought

ROBOTROPOLIS

Robotnik was having a bad day. On his side were a few robots. They were
doing the job that Snively used to do. It wasn't until now that he
realised how much he needed to torture him. "He's been gone too long"
Robotnik thought to himself. "He must have found knothole by now, I just
need to make an excuse for them all to go on a mission. Then he can make
his move.

UNCLE CHUCK'S HIDEOUT

Uncle Chuck has been monitoring Robotnik continuously. He knew something
was up but he didn't know what. All he knew was that Snively was nowhere
around. The powersurge yesterday had him worried. What ever the cause,
it was guarded heavily. There was something in the computer's database
that might solve the mystery but it was encrypted very well. He couldn't
help thinking that Snively's disappearance and the new machine were
linked. He downloaded a copy of the encrypted file into a data disk and
sent it to Knothole using a tiny robotic bird, thinking maybe Nicole
could make sense of it.

KNOTHOLE

It wasn't long before uncle Chucks message came. Sally immediately made
NICOLE to decipher the file. "NICOLE status on file" asked Sally
"The File uses a complex Mathematical algorithm to be encrypted.
Estimated Time to decipher, 2-3 hours minimum if all resources are
assigned to the task. Replied NICOLE
"OK Allow all resources except scanning to be assigned to the task."
Said sally
"Very well sally" said NICOLE
"YO what do you think we will find in this file, I cant wait 2 hours!"
said sonic
"I don't know Sonic,  hopefully some answers.

2 and a half hours later

"File deciphered Sally" said NICOLE. "At last" said Sonic. What little
patience he had was all used up "So Sally girl, what's in it"? asked
Bunny. "NICOLE summarise the file" said Sally.
After a few bleeps Nicole responded. "The file contains a log report on
a new project code named Robo-nuke. It says that Robotnik has developed
a devise called Roboticizer Bombs. When detonated, It will robotisize
all animal life in a 5 mile radius". He intends to test them on the
Great forest in hope to Robotisize everyone."
"What?" said Sonic completely shocked.
"Oh no we are all doom'ed" Said Antoine.
Sally was also shocked. "Could he really have built such a device?"
thought Sally
"Are there any plans NICOLE"
"Negative Sally"
"What else is there"
"There are co-ordinates For the location of the factory." replied NICOLE
"Okay, all we have to do is blow up the factory. No prob" said Sonic
"Sonic your not thinking. This could be a bluff."
"Can we chance it?"
"Okay,Y ou me and Bunny and Antoine will check it out first.
Antoine wasnt happy about this.   

ROBOTROPOLIS

Uncle Chuck was Snooping around Robotniks Command Center in his Swat-bot
disguise. "I must find out what is going on" thought Chuck. He was able
to over hear Robotnik.
"All Swatbots, Activate Personal Code 2" Said Robotnik to the computer.
"Code 2 Snively has been activated" replied the computer. "That fake
information will bring them to the factory then I will have that
miserable hedgehog. Snively must have found Knothole by now. That
disguise was perfect. Sometimes, I even amaze my self" Robotnik thought
to himself.
"This is interesting" thought Chuck. "I'd better warn every everyone,
they should be meeting me in my hideout soon"

elsewhere, 10 minutes later

Sonic, sally, bunny and Antoine (reluctantly) were going to scout the
area where the factory was. They decided to make a small detour to
Chucks Hide out to see if he has any information. On arrival, they found
Chuck just going in. "SONIC, I have some news, but tell me, did you
decipher the file I sent you?" Asked Uncle Chuck
"Yeah Unc, its about some new weapon. we were going to see the factory
now" said Sonic
"I think the File was planted" said Chuck
"What makes you say that" asked Sally
"Listen, Robotnik is trying to find knothole. He has sent Snively to do
this."
"Snively?" They all said in unison.
"Well he shouldn't bother us, he sticks out a mile away!" Said Sonic
"He has been disguised so you can't recognise him, he could look like
anything"
Just then bunny had a terrible feeling. "Sugar, you don't suppose
Simon...."
"Ugh-oh If Simon was Snively, then this mission was a ruse so he could
find his way out of knothole and tell Robotnik where it is!" thought
Sally. "Sonic, quickly go back to Knothole. Make sure there isn't any
trouble from Simon"
"Okay sal, Juice Time" In a gust of wind, Sonic was gone.


KNOTHOLE

Snively known most people were away on a mission. This was his chance!
He could easily slip away from the guard and into the forest. From
there, he would quickly look for a land mark, and go to Robotropolis.
However, that little bit of conscience that has emerged made him feel
bad. He reminded himself that he wants to be human again but to kill
everyone here? He decided to chance it.
 He ran with great agility towards the exit of knothole. Even the guard
was caught by surprise. "No problems so far" thought Snively. Within
minutes he was in the great forest and found a good land mark to locate
where Knothole was (For security purposes, we can not know what it was
he saw ;)

Dulcy was asked to fly around to see if she could spot "Simon" while
rotor and Tails searched the ground. Tails was having better luck then
Rotor. It wasn't long before he found Simon.

Snively was resting. He didn't even notice the other fox jump him. Tails
used his martial arts tecnique to quickly tripped him up and forced him
to the ground, putting him in an arm lock. 
"Okay I GIVE UP" Shouted Snively.
 "WHO ARE YOU" asked tails
"Ill talk" Said Snively
"Good" said Tails releasing his grip. since his former friend wasn't
going anywhere.
"Ummm well you know me as Snively"
"SNIVELY!!!! It can't be, what did you do to yourself"? asked Tails
"Well it's a bit of a long story........."

Just then Sonic Came back. He ran at Sonic speed thinking Tails was in
trouble. He saw them talking at the moment. He still wasn't sure if he
was Snively. "Id better try to listen to what they are saying"

"......and that's it" said Snively "I was supposed to go to Robotropolis
but I just can't do it." Snively was almost to tears. He continued to
tell Tails of his need to become human and how Robotnik wouldn't do it
unless he found Knothole.
"This is complicated" Thought Tails "Now what are you going to do?"
"I don't know" Said Snively pouring with tears.
"Maybe Sally can help you" said tails
"I don't think so, she wouldn't want to help me, she would rather kill
me!!"
"Well I can't let you go to Robotropolis so you will have to take your
chances here"

Sonic heard everything. He felt a little sympathetic for him but the
secrecy of knothole was at stake. He decided to let him self be known.
"Hello Simon or should I say Snively..."
Snively and Tails saw him. Snively immediately panicked. "Please don't
hurt me, I wont tell anyone where knothole is" 
Sonic looked at the pitiful creature. "Come on Sniv, lets see what Sally
can do. In the mean time you're going in a cell." Sonic said with a
sigh.

In knothole Sally was brought up to date. Snively was placed in a cage
until a decision was made.

"This is a complicated problem" said Sally. "The only way he can be
helped is to go to Robotnik but afterwards he will know where knothole
is."
"NICOLE, Scan Snivleys body. Tell me anything that can help us" said
sally
"Working Sally........... Snivleys genetic structure has been radically
altered. The change has put pressure on his mind as a result of a
conflict with vulpine instinct and Simian Instinct. Also, Memory has
also been effected because of the incompatible way the species think.
IN ENGLISH!" Said Sonic
"In plain English, He is thinking more like a fox. If he can not <pull
himself together> by accepting himself in his present state he will have
a mental breakdown or die"
"Well that's a little clearer" Said Sonic. "It's up to you sugar" said
bunny to sally. Sally thought about it. "I need some time to think about
it". Sally walked away to the power ring pool. It was an easy place to
relax. Normally she would be happy that Snively was captured but she
wasn't sure if he was still in there. She decided that she had better
talk to him to make up her mind.

Inside his make shift cell, Snively had plenty of time to think. He knew
they wouldn't let him out. They are likely to kill him. Things were much
easier before. He could feel himself dying. Robotniks' machine didn't
work very well. Now his own body was rejecting him. Or was it the other
way round? Just then, Sally came in. 
"Hello Snively"
"H-h-hi Princess" said Snively. He didn't feel like talking but might as
well if he was going to die.
"Tell me, why shouldn't I just keep you in there"? asked Sally
"Well..... I am sorry for what I did. Some of it is getting harder for
me to remember....."
"Snively, are you aware that you might die"?
"I had a feeling. Please help, I don't want to die" said Snively, his
eyes pleading.
"Hmmm NICOLE, Scan Snively, any change?" "None Sally" Replied Nicole.
"Ill be back later with my decision."

A meeting of all the Major freedom Fighters was called.
"Why don't we just blast him?" said one
"Are you sure its Snively" said another
"You cant let him go" said another
"Okay look" said Sally. We have to do this carefully. Anyone got any
ideas?"
"Why don't we try to erase his mind"? said Rotor
"Maybe, NICOLE, Can we erase his short term memory"? said sally
"Possibly sally. If the change is completely reversed, his mind will
return to the point before he came to knothole" Replied Nicole.
"That's not a bad idea, Snively gets what he wants and our secrets are
safe." said sonic
"I Still do not see why we cant blast him" said another
"Look, That isn't Snively anymore, Snively was ruthless and had no
morals at all where as that person does. That fox is just what's left of
him. Said Sally.
"So all we have to do is put Snively in the machine, reverse it and
everything is cool" said Sonic

Sally returned to Snivelys cell. Snively was now very nervous. "Well
this is it, she has reached her decision" he thought.
"Snively, we have decided to try and help you."
"WHAT? er may I ask why? Aren't you afraid I might reveal the location
of Knothole" asked Snively.
"It seems that if we put you back to normal, you will forget
everything."
"Everything?"
"Everything" repeated Sally.
"I see but that means that I will never know what it means to have
friends or anything else I have learned" thought Snively
"Its ether that, or stay with us permantely" Said sally.
"umm okay, when do we go"?
"Tonight, be ready"
"Okay, Can I ask something?"
"What" asked Sally
"Can I talk to Tails first?"
"Well I think we can let you do that" thought sally wondering what he
could possibly want with him.

A short time later

Tails came in. He had heard that Snively wanted to talk to him but he
didn't know what it could be about. He didn't mind although he was
disturbed about talking to an enemy. 
"Hello Snively, I heard you wanted to talk to me" said Tails
"Yes, I want to thank you".
"Thank me? for what?"
"Well you were the only friend I had in a very long time. After
tomorrow, I will forget that and we will be enemies again. At the
moment, the thought of destroying everyone here including you and your
friends is unthinkable. Iam not even talking like Snively any more. But
that will all change by tomorrow." Snively let out a sigh. Tails knew he
was serious.
"You could stay here you know" Said Tails
"You don't understand. I can't live with myself like this! I was born
human. Because of this I could die in this body, unless I adapt" Snively
said the last part out quietly.
"Why cant you adapt?" asked Tails
"Some people can, and some people cant. I cant. I am sorry we can no
longer be friends."
Tails didnt know what to say. He has always hated Snively although he
hated Robotnik more. Now he felt sorry for him.

THAT NIGHT

Snively left his cell along with the other freedom fighters to
Robotropolis. As they expected, there were many Swatbots. "Well, how do
we get in"? said Sonic "I have a way" said Snively. Snively went to a
Swatbot. "HAULT FREEDOM FIGHTER" Snively responded by saying "Override
code Omega Delta blue 2" The Swatbot immediately stopped. "AUTHORISATION
VERRIFIED" It said. "Okay" Said Snively. "Wow, I guess the code will be
changed after this" Sonic whispered to Sally. "It's a good thing I can
still remember the code" said Snively. Using Snively's code they were
able to get very deep into Robotropolis and enter The command area. "So
far so good" said bunny. After a few turnings, Snively paused. "Whats
wrong, why did you stop?" asked Sonic. "I-I cant remember the rest of
the way!" 
"Well I guess we will have to take over" Said Sally. "NICOLE, 
scan area, can you find any large machinery that has signs of being a
genetic alternator"? "Processing Sally....... One match found down the
left corridor" replied Nicole
After some guess work, they found the room but it was guarded by many
Swatbots. "Try the Code" said sally. "It wont work" said Snively. "These
only respond to Robotnik" "I guess we will just have to blast our way
in. Slap me a power ring Sal" said Sonic. Sally reached into the
backpack and pulled out a ring. "Juice Time" Sonic Spun wildly around
the bots dodging all their weaponry. He then tripled spin through two of
them. Bunny and Sally were also fighting the others. Snively did his
best which wasn't really that good any way. After a short battle, they
won. "I never thought I would do that" Said Snively. They entered the
room. Snively recognised it as the machine. "You better do this quick, I
am sure Robotnik would have heard of that fight by now" said Snively.
"Get in the machine ill handle the controls" said sally. Snively did as
he was told. "Yes were in luck. The genetic patterns are still here."
The hum and blue light filled the tube. After a flash, they found that
Snively was back to normal. When Snively saw them he went crazy.
"GUARDS, the freedom fighters are here He shouted. "I guess it worked,
we'd better scram" Said Sonic. He used another power ring and ran at
full speed back to Knothole with Sally and bunny Holding on tight.

When Robotnik first saw Snively he was pleased as he could torture him
some more. "Well Snively did you find Knothole?" Snively wasn't sure.
"no sir, they saw through the disguise and brought me back here after
knocking me out" 
he lied. He couldn't remember anything. Except for part of the journey
in 
the Great Forest then back here. He also remembered something else.
Friends.
 He knew that must have been a hallucination or something as he, Snively
them Great, Had no friends. Just an "Employer" called Robotnik as his
best company.

Epilogue

Things were getting back to normal. Robotnik hasn't done anything to
Knothole yet so it seemed like the plan worked. Some did feel a bit sad
that they had to return Snively back. He could have been more useful.
But at least they were safe, for now.......
